The purpose of this is to work on practicing first person. Many writers find this difficult because they tend to slide into their own personal voice. First person should convey the voice of the main character alone, not the writer's voice. In this self-made meme, I'm going to practice first person by writing ten deviations from the perspectives of ten different characters. My goal is to make the narrative of each submission distinct and different from all of the others.
Rules:
- Each submission must be at least 500 words. Preferably more. But no more than 2,000. This is an exercise, not an actual novel.
- Each submission MUST be in first person. No question.
- Must be finished before the end of the year.
- Obviously each submission must be from the perspective of a different character. Kudos for writing the same scene from the perspectives of multiple characters (in separate submissions, of course).
- Going in order isn't required. Whichever is more muse-conducive.
- The more variety amongst the characters, the better. It's a lot harder writing different-sounding submissions if the characters are really similar.
Characters:
1. Ashley Eriksson (Heyverse)
2. Hadrian (Heyverse)
3. Nathan (Ange Symphonique)
4. Gwenne (Ange Symphonique) DONE
5. Nemorthagg (unicorns/centaurs)
6. Eva Frost (Christmas)
7. Saul (Heyverse)
8. Nicnevin (Heyverse) DONE
9. Oberon (Heyverse)
10. The Queen (Heyverse)
Since it seemed like a good plan, I'm going to copy
